My understanding on Informative Tool

When I heard about integrating ICT in teaching and learning, I had a notion that it is all about using electronic gadgets in the classroom for the engagement of the students but as I attended the ICT lessons, I was convinced that the Information and communication technology (ICT) can be used as five different tools in the classroom as listed below:
  1. an informative tool
  2. a communicative tool
  3. a constructive tool
  4. a co-constructive tool
  5. a situating tool
After attending the lesson on Informative tool, I understood that ICT as an informative tool  give us skill and knowledge to analyze and select the most appropriate and valid information from large amount of information through different forms such as text, graphics, sound, image and video.
By using the idea of analyzing information, it facilitated me the acquisition of high order thinking thus, and helped develop my constructive thinking skills.

After going through the notes on informative tool, I understood that the informative tool does not provide information directly. So, we have to explore information through different sources. The sources include books, television, radio, newspaper, journal articles and internet. Since informative tools give vast repositories of information, I realized that we have to keep in mind the following points to get authentic information:
1.      As a user we should know how to evaluate the resources from the different sources. We have to use the knowledge of web evaluation when we come across vast repositories of information.
2.      As a teacher one should guide the students to make sense of what information they are using. For example, ask the students to avoid plagiarism/use their own words.
The lesson on informative tool enriched me with the ideas to evaluate and analyze the information.

I used different websites (google.com,google scholar, you tube and slide share.net) to search information on Doklam issues and inserted the most relevant to information to make presentation
